William “Bill” J. Peters Sr. 48, of Green Bay, passed away on February 21, 2008. He was born on May 6, 1959 in Green Bay to Leslie and Ursula (Martens) Peters. On May 10, 1986 Bill married the former Mary Andrastek. Bill graduated from Green Bay West in 1977 and later received a Bachelors Degree in Theology from St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Bill was the Director of Religion at the former St. Paul Catholic Parish in Manitowoc and at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in Seymour. For the past 17 years he was employed by Sears. Bill was one of the people who were responsible for bringing the Teens Encounter Christ movement to the Green Bay Diocese and was involved with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts; one of the many activities he shared with his sons. He was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them whether camping, fishing, or just time at home. Bill and Mary were involved with marriage preparation with engaged couples. Bill was a hard worker and very committed to his job. He loved cooking, grilling out, trying out new recipes, baking with chocolate, and was a craftsman and handyman. He enjoyed reading and going out for coffee with Mary. Bill had a beautiful inner strength, a deep care for people, enjoyed life, and had a deep faith. His life will be celebrated and missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Mary, Green Bay; two sons, William J. Peters Jr. and Joseph W. Peters both of Green Bay. The family cat, Zoe. His mother, Ursula Peters, Green Bay and father-in-law and mother-in-law Deacon Phill and Lucy Andrastek, Manitowoc; Brothers, L. John (Debra) Peters, Menominee, WI, Bob (Lorraine) Peters, Howard, and Dick (Gloria) Peters, Green Bay; sisters, Judy (Jim) Smits, Appleton, Joan Johnston and Sharen (Glenn) Goddard both of Green Bay. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Phillip (Nancy) Andrastek, Jr., Manitowoc, John Andrastek and Joan Healy, St. Paul, Joe (Natalie) Andrastek, Manitowoc, Peter (Krissy) Andrastek, Wittenburg. WI; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie J. Peters, one brother, Gerald Peters, infant brother, Jimmy Peters, and a brother-in-law, Herb T. Johnston.

Friends may call at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St. from 4-8pm Sunday. Parish Wake Service 7pm Sunday at the church. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 9-11am. Mass of Christian Burial 11am Monday at the church with the Rev. Larry Canavera and Rev. Dave Pleier concelebrating.
