Waselchuk, Dan
Dan Waselchuk, age 78, of Appleton passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005,
at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. Dan was born on Feb. 22, 1927, in Pound,
Wis., to the late Peter and Mary Waselchuk. He married Patricia (Martens)
on June 17, 1950. Dan dedicated his engineering career to the paper industry.
He co-founded the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame and was the Vice
President of Operations for the Paper Discovery Center. For 55 years, he was
an active member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and was that organization's
international president in 1964. He proudly served his country in the United
States Navy in 1945 and 1946. Dan was well known for his many contributions
to the communities in which he lived and the paper industry. Survivors include
his wife of 55 years, Patricia; his children, Peter (Terri) Waselchuk, Sue
(Mike) Knier, Tom (Dana Johnson) Waselchuk, Mary (David) Rasmussen, Mark (Kari)
Waselchuk, Judy (John) Wilson, Kathy (Jim) Ghere, Lori (Shenid Bhayroo) Waselchuk
and Amy (Dan) Steckel. He is further survived by his 26 grandchildren: Sara,
Angie, Brian, Matt, Jenny, Kai, Sunya, Erin, Daniel, Amy, Emily, Andrew, Emma,
Sam, Jack, Jim Jr., Dan, Matt, Brian, Rachel, Andrea, Laura, Mira, Zahli,
Sophie and Ava. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Hannah and
Jesse. Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Pat McGraham. The Funeral
Liturgy will be at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC
CHURCH, 1617 West Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating.
Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the
time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his
name to benefit the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame and LEAVEN.
