CRASH CLAIMS LIFE OF WOMAN
Pound - A 19-year old Pound woman was killed Friday morning in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 141 near 16th Road in the town of Pound.

Marnie A. Martens was pronounced dead at the scene by Marinette County Coroner George Smith.

According to the Marinette County Sheriff's Department, a vehicle driven by Martens struck the rear of a semi driven by Dennis G. Broswavic, no age available, Crystal Falls, Mich., entered a ditch and rolled over.

The Coleman area Rescue Squad and Coleman Fire Department assisted with the accident, which remains under investigation.

Marnie Ann Martens, age 19, of 641 Walker Street, Pound, died Friday, September 24, 1993 in a traffic accident in the town of Pound. Marnie Ann was born May 13, 1974 in Marinette to Russell and Karlene(Lentz) Martens.

She was a graduate of Coleman High School and was employed at DeSmidt's Golf Course and Country Club in Crivitz. Marnie was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Coleman.

Surviving are her parents, Russell and Karlene Martens, of Pound, 1 sister, Mary Martens of Pound, 1 brother, Ryan Martens in the Marine Corp, San Diego, Calif., her grandmother, Dorothy Martens of Pound, and aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Louise and Mary Lentz and Clare Martens, and an Uncle Billy Martens.

Friends may call at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman, from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a wake service at 8 p.m. Sunday. There will be visitation at the funeral home Monday from 8 to 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Coleman. Rev. Martin Fox will officiate. Burial in St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery, Pound.
