Frank J. Martens, 76, of Green Bay passed away Friday, November 5, 1999.
Mr. Martens was born in Coleman, WI to the late Harry A. and Emma (Laurent)
Martens. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1941-1945 in the 446th
Air Force as a radio operator on board a B-24. He flew 30 missions in the
European Theater. On August 24, 1984, he married Mavis Pigman in Green Bay.
He attended UCLA and St. Norbert's College and was the owner of San Luis
Manor Nursing Center, Green Bay. Over the years he was employed by Dun and
Bradstreet, Duluth, MN. The White Store, as a credit and office manager, he
was a commercial loan officer at Kelloggs Citizen Bank. After retirement he
was the interim director of the Brown County Mental Health Center, business
manager at Heritage Hill State Park and interim director at Heritage Hill.
Survivers include his wife, Mavis Bellevue; children, John (Kathy) Martens,
Amie (Jim) Retzloff, Scott Martens and Nancy Crabb, Kim (Mike) Collins, Lisa
(Gerry) Biohowiak, Jan (John) Battiola, P.U. Martens and Jodia McMonagle,
and Marc (Carolyn) Martens, 17 grandchildren, three brothers, Donald M. (Fern),
Larry (Rita), and Tom (Joyce) Martens, three sissters, Louise Malmatadt, Patricia
(Dan) Waselchuk, and Mary (Richard) Ziemer, one uncle, Clem Martens and special
family friend, Patti Martens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leonard, three sisters,
Sister Mary Stephen, Denise Frank and Evelyn Bachhuber.
The family will receive friends at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home EAst, 2379
E. mason Street at Finger Road across from the East/Town Mall on Monday, November
8th from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be no wake service. Mass of Christian Burial
10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Ln. Burial

A memorial fund has been established in Frank's name at the funeral home
for the Heritage Hill State Park, Altrusa Club of Green Bay and St. Bernards

Martens, Nathalie A.
Nathalie A. Martens, 80, resident of Green Bay, died unexpectedly, but peacefully
Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at her home. She was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Oconto
Falls, Wis., to the late Edward and Clara (Carlson) Ama. Nathalie attended
Oak Park School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Loyola
University. She had been employed as a Courier Nurse on the Santa Fe Railroad.
In 1948, she married Frank J. Martens. Nathalie treasured time spent with
her family and attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events.
She also enjoyed her summers at her cottage, “Nat’s Bay View”
on Newton Lake, cocktail cruises on her pontoon boat, feeding the birds and
planting her flowers. She will always be remembered as the “Packer”
and “Hockey” Grandma.
Survivors include eight children and their spouses, John and Kathy Martens,
Green Bay; Amie and Jim Retzloff, Oshkosh; Scott and Nancy (Crabb) Martens,
Kim and Mike Collins, Lisa and Gerry Blohowiak, Jan and John Battiola, P.J.
Martens and his special friend, Jodie McMonagle, all of Green Bay; Marc and
Carolyn Martens, Eden Prairie, Minn.; 17 grandchildren, Mike (Hanna), Jamie,
Kristin, Troy, Kelly, Katie, Megan, Sam, Dana, Andi, Emily, Sara, Jake, Maxine,
Nick, Paige, Mason; a great-grandson, Vaughn; a brother and sister-in-law,
Dario and Judy Ama, Oconto Falls; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many,
many friends; and special friend, Patti Martens. She was preceded in death
by a brother, Randall Ama.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m.
Sunday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday. The Mass of Christian
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth
St. with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial will be in Oconto Falls
Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in Nathalie’s name. |
