A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Main Chapel at the Wisconsin Veterans Home. Burial of cremains will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Stevens Point at a later date. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the chapel. Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.

He was born Jan. 3, 1927, in Stevens Point, to the late George H. and Alma O. (White) Martens. Mathias was an English teacher for the Jesuit high schools in Wisconsin and Nebraska. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include brothers and sisters, Sister Mary Christine Martens of St. Louis, Monica (Richard) Dinauer of Verona, George H. (Paulina) Martens of Dunnellon, Fla., Marjorie (Franklin) Zaske of Stevens Point, Thomas (Martha Boettcher) Martens of Portland, Ore., June Carlson of Stevens Point and Nona (Thomas) Higgins of Stevens Point.
