LEO MARTENS DIES FRIDAY

COLEMAN - Leo Martens, a resident of Appleton for the last nine years and a former Coleman resident, died Friday afternoon at St. Theresa Hospital at Kenosha of an apparent heart attack.

He was born November 25, 1919, in Pound and was a 1937 graduate of Coleman High School. He attended Oshkosh State Teachers College and then entered the Army during World War II where he served in the European theater.

Following his discharge, he was employed for a commercial credit office at Green Bay. He then moved to Coleman and owned and operated the former Chrysler Motor Car Co. for many years. In 1961, he moved to Wausau where he was employed as a salesman for Valley School Supply Co.for three years. For the past nine years he had been employed by Wisconsin School Supply Co. in Appleton,

On Dec. 1, 1945, he married the former Marie Hammes at St. John Catholic Church in Coleman. She died in October of 1963. He then married the former Rosemary Western Thibodeau on April 24, 1965. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Appleton and a former member of Knights of Columbus at Coleman.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. William Graef of Wausau; Miss Debra Martens of Appleton; Miss Cora Martens, who is attending University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and Judy at home; three sons; John of Appleton; Richard and Michael both at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Martens of Pound, and a brother, Clare, also of Pound.

Friends may call at Rhodes mortuary in Coleman from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A bible vigil service will be conducted there Sunday at 8 p.m. Final rites will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Coleman, with the Rev. Thomas Mayefske officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
