OBIT: no date. JOSEPH
MARTENS PASSES AWAY
Mr. H. A. Martens received
a telegram Wednesday morning conveying the sad intelligence of the death that
morning of his brother, Joseph Martens, at the family home at Seattle, WA.
The remains will be brought to this city for burial. The funeral will be held
at 10:30 o'clock Sunday.
The deceased was a son
of Mr. John Martens, of Melrose township, and was born at Green Bay WI, April
11, 1865. He came to Grant county in 1879 and resided in the county and at
Carona until about ten years ago when he moved to Lemmon, this state, and
about five years later to his late home at Seattle.
Mr. Martens was a strong,
rugged man, and always enjoyed good health up to a short time ago, when he
suffered a stroke of appoplexy. The telegram announcing his death did not
state the cause but relatives here feel satisfied that it was due to a second
stroke of appoplexy.
He is survived by his
wife and one daughter, Mrs. C. C. Joy, of Lemmon, this state; his father,
Mr. John Martens, Melrose township; five brothers, C. W. and H. A. Martens,
of this city; Martin Martens, Kenmare, ND and Frank and Albert Martens, Melrose.
Also one sister, Mrs. Anton VanStralen, Melrose township. |
