Malmstadt, age 56, of Madison, died unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 26, 2003. He was born Nov. 9, 1947, the beloved son of Donald and Louise Malmstadt. He is survived by his mother, Louise; daughters Jessica (Scott) Schumacher and Meghan Malmstadt; brothers, Michael (Deanna), Larry (Toni), William, Kip, Thomas (Lori), and Bud (Peggy); his sister, Patricia; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and an ocean of friends. John was preceded in death by his father, Donald. John was a light to those who found themselves in darkness, and his wit, charm, and selflessness will not be forgotten. He was much loved, and he will be missed. Funeral services will be held at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the John Malmstadt Memorial Fund. Details are pending.
