Two
Downey High Graduates Tell Their Betrothal At a family dinner party held at
the home of the bride-elect´s mother, Mrs. Michelene DeNoble in Pico Rivera,
announcement was made of the engagement of Miss. JoAnn Delia DeNoble to Alvin
Bishop, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bishop of 13153 Blodgett. Twelve guests were
present, including members of the two families. Both young people are graduates
of Downey High School, Miss DeNoble with the Class of 1959 and her fiancée
in 1957. Currently the bride-elect is attending Cerritos College where she serves
as cheerleader, is identified with A.W.S. activities and is a member of the
Newman Club. While completing her studies in elementary education, she is serving
as secretary to Marshall Treat, dean of science, engineering and mathematics
and dean of the forthcoming summer session.
The prospective bridegroom
attended Cerritos for two years from 1957-59. He received his letter for baseball
and in 1958 was presented the most valuable player award. Mr. Bishop is now
majoring in physical education at Whittier College where he plays varsity
baseball and is a member of the Franklin Society. Next year, while a senior,
he will be vice president of C.A.P.H.E.R.
