Paustian, John L.


John L. Paustian, 84, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2005, at his home. John was born in Mayville, WI, to the late John and Alma (Christian) Paustian. He married Inez Boucher at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, WI, on July 22, 1961. He grew up in Mayville, WI, attended Dodge County Normal School for two years and taught school for a year before going into the Army during World War II. After the service he attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. John moved to the Fox Valley area after graduation from the university. He worked at The Post-Crescent for 37 years, where he worked in the sports field, and 27 of those years he was sports editor. John retired from the Post-Crescent in June of 1987. He enjoyed attending high school sports events and watching sports as well as attending the games. John was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and also enjoyed golfing.


John is survived by his loving wife: Inez of Appleton, four sons Gregory (Michelle) of Freedom, Russ (Michelle) of Appleton, Fred of Appleton, John C. (Dianne) of Thiensville; a daughter: Jeanne (Bruce) Van Eperen of Appleton; 11 grandchildren: Cory, Angie, Nikki, Luke, Melanie, Anthony, Nicholas, Brett, Thomas, Joshua, and Kendra. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arthur, and two grandsons, Michael and Alex John.


Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald, Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 8:30 a.m. until time of the Mass. Internment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. "We would like to thank Theda Care at Home and Hospice for their compassion and loving care."


He made many memories as a loving Husband, Father, and Grandpa that will live in our hearts forever.
