HARLAN BLADL OBITUARY

Harlan Bladl, age 86, of Waunakee, WI passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 31, 2002. Harlan was born on September 13, 1915 in Granton, WI, to John and Catherine (Martens) Bladl. He married Jeri Hetzel on September 13, 1948 in St. Luke's Church, Plain, WI.

Harlan was very patriotic and proud of serving his country. He served in Cam Globe CCC Camp in 1935 and Camp Devils Lake CCC in 1938. He served in the Army from 1941-1945. He served as a corporal in the Coast Artillery in the southern Philippines, Luzon and Japan.

He and his family lived in Plain until 1962. He has lived the past 40 years in Waunakee. He loved to spend time with his family, telling stories of his time in the service and the "old days." He loved to go to the cabin and to hunt deer, watch the birds and walk through the woods.

He was a member of the Madison Plumbers Local for many years. He was a member of Waunakee American Legion Post 360 and VFW Post 11244 and a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Westport.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeri; his children, Mick (Tom) Corcoran and their children Ann (Chris) Diller, Kirsten (Justin) Hellenbrand, John Corcoran; Bill (Kathy) Bladl and their children Jill Bladl and Jeremy Bladl; LeAnn (Bill) Dawson and their children Sara Dawson and Mike Dawson; and Larry (Kathy) Bladl and their children Angela Bladl and Kaitlin Bladl. He is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Megan Diller; his sister, Helene (Paul) Haas; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Bladl.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jerome, Irvin, and Charles; and granddaughter Amy Bladl. Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 3, 2002, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Westport. Monsignor James Kramer officiated. Burial took place in the church cemetary.
