Karen L. MARTENS (Beck) 11/10/1942 ~ 5/14/2007 Karen Martens passed away peacefully at her home in Magnolia after an almost five year courageous battle with lymphoma. She was 64 years old. Karen was born in Sunnyside, Washington on November 10, 1942, the daughter of Claude and Edith Beck. Karen graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1961. Later in her career she worked for Virginia Mason in the billing department for twenty-eight years, where she made a lifetime of wonderful friends. Karen had the ability to make everyone feel special and loved, and the world will be an emptier place without the sound of her contagious laughter, her warm giving heart, and her overwhelming gift of living life to the fullest. Karen was an inspiration to us all! Karen was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jo Beck, loving husband of 39 years, Gary Martens, and her beloved daughter, Dawn Martens. She will be forever missed by children, Michael Martens, Michele (Danny) Ordoña, Alicia Martens, and two grandsons, Zach and Logan Ordoña, of whom she was so very proud. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Sue Dakis, and her many nieces, nephews, and friends. "To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world". - Unknown. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of Karen's life to be announced at a later date.
