Eva Mae (Martens) French,
90, De Pere died January 24, 2014 following a short illness She was born June
11,1923 to the late Lawrence & Eva May (Phelps) Martens. Eva graduated
from East De Pere High School in 1941 and worked at the De Pere Phone Office
for several years. She also worked as a nurses assistant at St. Vincent Hospital
for 25 yrs. Later in life she was a crossing guard for the De Pere Public
School District. Eva married Robert (Bob) French at the First United Presbyterian
Church, De Pere, on January 1, 1945. She was a longest living member of the
church and was very active through the years. She lived in De Pere her entire
life. Eva was active in the De Pere Historical Society and the De Pere Library.
She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and served as Grand Nobel. She
remained a member until her death. Survivors include her 7 children and step
daughter, Doug & Sue French, De Pere, Pam (French) & Tom Schumacher,
Green Bay, Rick French, De Pere, Steve & Guadelupe French, Green Bay,
Terry & Jean French, De Pere, Michele French, Hollywood, Fl., Kim (French)
& Chet Olson, Oneida & Marjorie (French) Lundquist, Stevens Point;
19 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; nephews,
nieces and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob;
her parents; brothers, Harold, Clayton & Adrian; sister, Alice (Martens)
Pelegrin; step-daughter Nancy Olson; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law. Funeral
services will be held for Eva at the First United Presbyterian Church, De
Pere, 605 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Tuesday, January 28 at 5:00pm with
the Reverend Luke Farwell officiating. Friends may call at the church from
2:00pm until the time of services. Preceding the funeral service there will
be a Rebekah service beginning at 4:30pm. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting
