Donald E. MARTENS
Don was born on Sept 13, 1927 and passed away on May 12, 2004 at Everett Providence Hospital with his family by his side. He will be forever missed by Merry, his loving wife of 55 years, daughter Lizabeth (Nick) Zardis and son Jeffrey (Linda) Martens. He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren Alex, Ashley and Anthony Zardis and Jake Martens. Preceded in death by brother Bernard, survived by sister Corkee (Cal) Nerdrum and brother Gary (Karen) Martens and their families.

After graduating from Ballard High School in 1945, he served two years in the U.S. Army followed by 44 years at Salmon Bay Sand and Gravel. Don was a lifetime member of the Ballard Elks #827 and was a member of Camaloch Golf Club. He enjoyed playing golf, pheasant hunting and telling a good story. He will be truly missed by those fortunate enough to have known him. Remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice. No services at his request but a gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at the Ballard Elks from 2-6 p.m., 6411 Seaview Ave. N.W. Seattle, WA. Cremation under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood, WA.
